PURPOSE: A method for assigning identifying elements contained in signals emitted by transmitters in a tire pressure indicating system to the positions of the wheels on which the transmitters are mounted is provided to remove any additional receiving antenna and cable work thereof by integrally connecting electronic wheels systems to an acceleration sensor. CONSTITUTION: In a method for assigning identifying elements contained in signals emitted by transmitters in a tire pressure indicating system to the positions of the wheels on which the transmitters are mounted, the tire pressure indicating system includes a pressure sensor, a transmitter and a transmission antenna at the level of each vehicle wheel, one or more receiving antennas at the level of the vehicle chassis and an electronic reception and evaluation system which is connected to the antennas by means of cables. To distinguish between wheels on the right hand side of the vehicle and wheels on the left hand side of the vehicle, the sign of a path acceleration b produced at the level of a unit (electronic wheel system) containing the pressure sensor, transmitter, transmission antenna and an acceleration sensor, is determined. The electronic wheel systems are mounted on the different wheels in congruent positions.
