Method for retargetting facial expression to new faces

PURPOSE: A method for retargeting a sampled facial expression to a new face is provided to create the most suitable facial animation for a desired facial model by applying numerous facial expressions to a facial model of a 3D character. CONSTITUTION: A user captures various facial expressions produced by a specific performer using a face trace unit. The user extracts a behavior characteristic from the captured 3-dimensional facial expression data. The user applies the extracted behavior characteristic to various facial models. In the case of applying the behavior characteristic to different facial models, the user allocates a key pose every specific time while seeing each facial model directly.
