The present invention relates to a catalyst composition for oxcyclolining ethylene with 1,2-dichloroethane. The catalyst may be formed of copper chloride, at least one alkali metal, at least one rare earth metal and at least one Group IIA metal on a high surface area carrier when applied in a fluidized bed or on a carrier of high or low surface area when applied in a fixed bed.
