The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device using a non-polar compound, the nematic liquid crystal composition which contains it, and the nematic liquid crystal composition. The non-polar compounds are highly excellent in chemical and thermal stability, resistivity and voltage holding ratio. And a liquid crystal composition containing such liquid crystal compounds may be produced when the liquid crystal display device which has good dielectric anisotropy and the optical anisotropy using the characteristics as having a nematic phase in a wide temperature range, such a liquid crystal composition.
