A titanium-aluminum alloy powder or an aluminum oxide powder is brought into contact with the surface of the titanium material and subjected to a heat treatment to diffuse the aluminum in the alloy powder to the surface of the titanium material to form an intermetallic compound such as Ti3Al or TiAl, A surface hardening method of a titanium material which is produced in the vicinity of a surface and which improves surface hardness without causing surface peeling. It also provides decorations and watch cases made of the surface hardened titanium material and the surface hardened titanium material which are difficult to damage and hard to cause metal allergy.
