PURPOSE: A high temperature superconducting bearing is provided to reduce magnetic hysteresis loss by using a high temperature superconducting magnet, while improving a flux density distribution through the improvement of rotor structure. CONSTITUTION: A high temperature superconducting bearing comprises a high temperature superconducting magnetic journal which constitutes a journal of a rotating shaft by arranging, within a non-magnetic cylinder(104), a plurality of high temperature superconducting magnets(101) formed of a high temperature superconducting film in order of N-S S-N N-S S-N, such that the same poles of magnets are adjacent to each other and the generated magnetic field is directed outward from the journal; and a stator(105) formed into a semi-cylindrical shape opposed to the high temperature superconducting journal magnet, and made up of a plurality of high temperature superconductors. Thus, the force acting to the rotating element is compensated by a magnetic pressure, to thereby obtain a levitation force.
