PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically correcting luminance of a display panel configured of a field emission display and a method of driving the apparatus is provided to maintain luminance of the entire screen uniform and to protect pixels of the display panel from over-voltage. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for automatically correcting luminance of a display panel configured of a field emission display includes a feedback unit and a controller(21). The feedback unit detects a current signal that flows through the display panel and feeds back the current signal as an information signal. The controller compares the information signal with a reference signal and, when the current signal is smaller than the reference signal, increases voltage applied to pixels of the display panel. When the current signal is larger than the reference signal, the controller decreases the voltage.
