PURPOSE: A method for interpolating a binary shape is provided to reduce block effect after interpolation by removing vagueness using a context and to easily improve performance by applying an adaptive threshold value. CONSTITUTION: A method for interpolating a binary shape comprises the steps of setting up a threshold value to be binarized using a context and receiving a shape of which size is halved in each direction(10), setting up an initial position to interpolate(20), obtaining a context by using surrounding pixels(30), obtaining an interpolation value using the surrounding pixels(40), obtaining a threshold of the pixel to be interpolated and comparing the threshold to a variable threshold(50), interpolating an original binary block as 1 if the interpolation value is higher than the variable threshold(60), and interpolating the original binary block as zero if the interpolation value is lower than the variable threshold(70).
