FIELD: methods of preparation of spark-ignition engines for operation on lean mixture. SUBSTANCE: central and side electrodes of ignition plug are oriented in way of mixture flow from under intake valve increasing aerodynamic resistance to this flow after central electrode in the immediate vicinity of this electrode. Spark plug has body, central and side electrodes; body has mark on outer part in plane "axis of central electrodes - axis of symmetry of side electrode"; side electrode is widened or is provided with additional shield.
