Process air (I) to be dried is introduced into a coolant liquefier (1) to be heated and is then led to a regenerator (2') sector which forms part of a sorption dehumidifier (2) where it is heated further and picks up additional moisture from the rotating, cylindrical sorption-dehumidification body comprising of air-permeable material. The air, with increased humidity, passes through a coolant evaporator (4) bringing the temperature down, simultaneously condensing-out some of its water vapor, which is led away as water (4'). Preferred Features: The now partially-dehumidified air continues through the drying sector (2'') of the sorption dehumidifier (2) where it is further dried. It is passed in the reverse direction (relative to incoming air) through the material taking up moisture in the rotary sorption dehumidifier. It is then extracted (5) as dry air (II). Cooling air (III) is passed through the coolant liquefier (1). The liquefaction temperature is held constant using a fan (8) controlled to hold coolant temperature or pressure constant, which transfers the cooling air (III). An Independent claim is included for the corresponding plant carrying out the process.
