The halter has a cord (4), onto which the instrument can be hooked, using a hook (2) fixed on the chin rest or part of the chin rest. The cord is sewn onto a strap, which lies as a halter over the left shoulder, runs under the right armpit and is fixed by a clamp to the violinist's belt or belt loop. The halter may be adapted to fit the height of the violinist by an adjustable loop between the strap and the clamp.
