To reduce air eddies at an aircraft wing, at least one break eddy (15) is generated at a point between the wing tip (9) and the fuselage (2), with an opposite twist to the twist direction of the main eddy (14) from the wings. The main eddy (14) is degraded over a flight length of at least 20 wingspans behind the aircraft (1). At least one break eddy (15) is merged with the degraded main eddy (14) to trigger the instabilities within the main eddy and break it up completely.
