The magnetic support has an assembly for producing support and guiding forces between an active magnet and a passive support part (S). The active magnet has at least two interfitting soft iron rails with parallel pole attachments, with the permanent magnet and coil set between the soft iron rails. The passive support part (S) has at least the parallel pole attachments of which at least two are connected by a yoke. Two further permanent magnets are arranged close to the region of the pole attachments to compensate the scatter field produced in the coil chamber.
