The sensor matrix has light or x-ray sensitive sensor elements arranged in a matrix in rows and columns. Each sensor has a photo-sensor element (1) connected parallel to its connections and a transistor (3). There is at least one switching line (7) per sensor row, via which the transistors can be activated, so that the charges for each activated sensor can be read out simultaneously via readout lines (8). Each sensor has a further transistor (5) connected directly to the photo-sensor element that can be activated via at least one control line. Both transistors per sensor are connected in series and an electrode of a further capacitance (4) is connected to their junction. An Independent claim is also included for a method of operating a sensor matrix.
