The multispeed hub has a shaft (1) and a planetary transmission with sun wheels (5a,b,c). Several sun wheels are locked one after the other by axial movement of a switch rod (9), which has several raised parts (10), in the manner of a draw key transmission. Each sun wheel has at least one key (11). Each key is inserted through a slot (12) in the shaft radially outward into a groove in the sun wheel, to lock it in position. The raised parts on the rod are moved by a movement of the rod to engage with angled faces on the keys.
