New 3-benzylamino-benzothienopyrimidine derivatives inhibit phosphodiesterase V and are useful for treating cardiac insufficiency and impotence

New 3-benzylamino-benzothieno(2,3-d)pyrimidine derivatives and their salts are claimed. The 3-benzylamino-benzothieno(2,3-d)pyrimidine derivatives are of formula (I). R1 and R2 = hydrogen, A, hydroxy, OA or halo (fluoro, chloro, bromo or iodo), and at least one of R1 and R2 must be hydroxy; X = R4, R5 or R6 substituted once by R7; R4 = 1-10C linear alkylene with one or two methylene replaced by vinylene groups; R5 = 5-12C cycloalkyl or cycloalkylene; R6 = phenyl of benzyl; R7 = carboxy, COOA, carbonylamino, CONA2 or cyano; A = 1-6C alkyl. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a method for preparing (I); and (2) a pharmaceutical composition containing at least one (I) or its salt.
