The fitting has a suction channel (5) with a component (9) whose insertion is to be monitored and a movable closure body (6) downstream of this component in the form of a valve (V) with a valve ball (7) freely accommodated in a valve chamber (8). A reduction in the inlet cross-section of the valve chamber caused by inserting the component to be monitored causes a flow deflection (S) sufficient to open the valve, whereby the opening cross-section without the component inserted is so large that the valve ball is forced into its closing position by the flow pressure.
