Microwave energy with a flat wave front and wavelength in the range dm-mm is directed via a decoupler(3) and a phase-corrugated mirror at initial materials on a stable support(1). The mirror reflects the energy and redistributes the amplitude spread to achieve a homogenous electromagnetic field in the cuboid shaped process area(5). The instantaneous heating produced can be used for deforming and/or melting and/or bonding and/or curing of the initial materials. An Independent claim is made for a microwave module for the process comprising a microwave source(2) with rectangular decoupler(3), a metal mirror(4) at which the flat wave front is reflected and directed at a rectangular area. Corrugations in the mirror redistribute the amplitude spread.
