The method involves specifying a pressure at one end (16) of the train in a main air line (8) connecting its wagons (2,4,6) and converting the pressure into a mechanical signal at the other end (14) of the train. The mechanical signal is propagated tthrough the main air line to the first air line and detecting it and comparing the detected mechanical signal with the predefined pressure to decide whether the train is complete.
