An accumulator has an electrochemical energy store (10). There is a mechanical energy store (6), and a connected charging mechanism (5). This is hand operated to supply energy to the mechanical store and transmission devices (7-9), for a controlled discharge of the mechanical energy store inside the charging time period provided. This allows for transmission of energy from the mechanical energy store to the electrochemical energy store for complete or partial charging. The transmission devices comprise a discharge device (7) for discharging the mechanical energy store and conversion devices (8) for converting the mechanical energy into electrical energy.
