The battery (12) has a housing (10) containing at least two media, between which electrons and/or electric charge can be moved so that an electric current flows, at least one positive contact device and at least one negative contact device connected to the media to enable a voltage to be picked up contact device and an adjustment device. The adjustment device enables a force load on the battery to cause an increase in the internal pressure in defined regions of the housing to extend the operating functionality of the battery.
