The invention relates to a pressure relief device (1) for a battery housing (2), comprising a separating element (3) for separating an inner region (4) of the battery housing (2) from an outer region (5) of the battery housing (2), a holding element (6) for the separating element (3) for the mechanical fixing of the separating element (3) to the battery housing (2), and a plate-like element (7), which, in an installed state, is arranged on the side of the separating element (3) that faces the inner region (4) of the battery housing (2), parallel to the separating element (3).
