Gear selector cog, without separate discrete sector for secondary teeth, is for use in vehicle gearbox therefore cheap and easy to manufacture

A gear selector cog has a main body (60) with a series of main teeth (31) employed in normal running, and secondary teeth (91) used during the gear-change process. Each main tooth has an associated secondary tooth. The width of the individual teeth from trough to trough in the axial direction, is the same as the width of the main tooth plus that of the secondary tooth. The outer diameter (da) of the secondary tooth is larger than the diameter (df) of the foot of the main tooth. A method of manufacture is also claimed.
