The method involves using an x-ray diagnostic device whereby the mean radiation dose can be regulated. A digital detector element (15) with an active surface (19) is associated with an image acquisition device (14), an input signal for a control loop (4) is detected proportional to the radiation dose detected in the Y-direction based on a local weighting and the x-ray source (5) is modulated in the sense of optimal x-ray parameters with an output signal (17) of the control loop. Independent claims are also included for an x-ray diagnostic device and for a method of image processing of digitised x-ray images.
