Maintenance and servicing of linear drive elements, such as its primary part, due to wear of the latter, is beset with problems particularly where the primary part is located underneath the slide or carriage and mainly because of the considerable weight of the primary part itself. Design modifications now make the primary part (1) separable from the slide or carriage (90), and movable relative to the slide or carriage on a bearing assembly (3), which is specifically equipped with a roller-bearing, plain bearing or slide-bed.
