Production of lightweight loam products comprises mixing 71-90 wt.% clay or loam, 10-29 wt.% straw crushed to 0-5 mm and 35-55 wt.% water in a positive mixer; storing the mixture for 24-240 hours (preferably 24 hours) to mature; and removing according to requirement and further treating by extruding, drying or sizing without using a combustion process.
