The bone screw (10) has a round countersunk head (1) and a number of partial thread segments (2a-d), which are spaced by shaft parts (3a-c). The screw has breaking points at the shaft parts and forms a self-tapping groove (4a-d) when the desired shaft part end has been cut off to cut the screw to the desired length. Preferably, the threaded segments have self-tapping grooves (4a-d,5a-d) at each side to screw in the screw and to unscrew it.
