The engine has a freely-oscillating dual piston with two pistons (3) joined by a piston rod (4), a stationary linear generator (12) mounted near the piston rod with a coil winding (14) enclosing the linear generator in which an electric voltage is induced when the dual piston oscillates. The coil winding is mounted on the inside of a generator cylinder (13) inserted into the working cylinder (2). At least one permanent magnet (15) on the piston rod is moved axially and reciprocally in the coil winding when the piston oscillates.
