The device includes light source (100) for emitting visible light beam (110), and light collecting unit (LCU) for transforming the visible light into LCU (300) output consisting of direction polarized color lights. A polarization-transforming device (400) transforms a phase of the second LCU output into a phase of the LCU. A first dichroic device reflects the first direction-polarized color light to first optical output path. A compensating device (200) compensates for optical path difference, and reflective type optical modulators (203-205) receive direction-polarized color lights. The polarization transforming device comprises a half wavelength plate. The dichroic device comprises a polarization beam splitter (PBS) prism having a third dichroic mirror. The compensating device comprises a glass block. The reflective type optical modulator comprises a liquid crystal light valve. AN Independent claim is made for a reflective type crystal projection method.
