Rail breakage detection method for train track uses evaluation of acoustic oscillations obtained from track rail under dynamic loading

The rail breakage detection method detects the acoustic oscillations provided by the track rail when dynamically loaded by a train, using stationary or onboard acoustic detectors, with filtering of the acoustic oscillations, for separating the oscillations resulting from a track breakage from the usual acoustic oscillations of the track rail. The filter characteristics may be matched to the train type or velocity.
