Adaptive control of damping system for e.g. aerospace applications by use of sensors, microcomputer and pre-programmed instantaneous-damping adjustment algorithms
To damp shock-, vibration- and bodywork sound oscillations, acceleration- and/or displacement variables are measured by sensors (3) near loaded- and damped structures (2,1). Conditioned sensor signals are fed to a microcomputer (6). Variants for damping control are fed into the input module (5), especially for: damping on reaching a given acceleration limit, damping on reaching a limit of damping excursion, damping of a given frequency spectrum, damping adjustment after predetermined oscillation or shock results and damping of a frequency spectrum from the sensor signals. The damping system is adaptively composed from periodic analysis of measured values. Damping characteristics are supplied to the microcomputer as a function of time, of time intervals, elapsed times or as a function of limiting values. The microcomputer calculates state parameters of the damping units (10). An Independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
