The system drives several rotary, pivoting and/or linearly movable parts in equipment and machinery, e.g. in sheet or roller printers, with one or more electric motors and one or more regulators with inputs from position and/or speed sensors for electric motors or driven parts and outputs to the motors. Acceleration sensors (F1-F5) on the functional parts (3-6) or groups thereof feed back the acceleration states of the parts or groups to the controllers (15,19) that use rule sets or algorithms for active damping. An Independent claim is also included for a method of controlling an electric drive system.
