The workbench top supports upwardly projecting clamping columns with which the guide rails, templates, stops, workpiece supports and holders can be clamped below, next to or above the workpieces. The devices for stationary processing the workpieces are fixed above the top through bolts clamped in the clamping columns. The columns comprise a sleeve (6) with inserted ring (10) and spiral spring (9) fitted over the ring. An insert rod is pushed through wooden workpiece supports and the workpieces are clamped with the screws which are located in the vice arm which is fixed in the insert rod.
