A procedure for the determination of the engine reduction with load upshifts with auto gearboxes of cars has the value of the engine reduction calculated analytically. The engine reduction is calculated from the magnitude of the dynamic torque. The magnitude of the dynamic torque of the shifting gearbox's input shaft is described by a parabola of the second order in the form: MT=a0 + a1 asterisk t + a2 asterisk t asterisk asterisk 2, where the coefficients a0, a1, and a2 are calculated from the desired setpoint slip time and from the pattern of the driving engine torque during the slip phase according to the load acceptance target torque, torque at the end of the slip phase, the speed difference that is to be reduced at the shifting gearbox's input shaft.
