Overhead swivel gantry maximises effectiveness of pre-assembly treatment for automotive bodywork

An automotive bodywork treatment plant has an elongated bath (3) in which components are submerged, supported by an gantry conveyer (17) which drags them through the bath (3). The body parts are presented over the bath by a swivel frame (24) which rotates through a horizontal axis by much less than 180 degrees, transverse to the direction of motion through the bath, and lowers the component into the bath. The assembly combines the translational motion through the bath, the lowering and lifting action, and the swivel frame action. The components are shaken and agitated during their advancement through the bath.
