A circular waste water treatment settlement basin (2) has an inlet for cloudy water and a radial array of sub-surface drainage tubes (5) extending from the sidewalls (4) towards the center. The basin has a bottom sludge scraper and a gantry-mounted surface scraper for floating residues. The surface scraper is in the outer sector of the gantry arm that has an automatic height adjustment system. The gantry arm surface scraper discharges to a gutter and pump in the arm, and discharges floating residues for further treatment.
