Exhaust gas turbo charger has an exhaust gas turbine and a radial compressor, where the paddles force the gas into a diffuser channel. The compressor paddles (17) slide axially in the housing (10) of the radial compressor, with adjustment across the flow stream movement at the rotor wheel (13). The paddles (17) are extended on low mass flows, and are retracted on high mass flows to give operating points where the paddles are in use or are inoperative to give the most effective working and/or the most effective compression ratio.
