Orientated workpieces (3) are removed from their magazine (4) by a gripper (5) etc which turns the workpiece towards the hanger (2) and places it in a pre-set position. Workpiece loading and removal are performed by several turrets fitted out with grippers and arranged between the hangers, the turrets rotating in synchronism with the hanger progress. With two or more hangers superposed, the hangers can be loaded or unloaded in parallel both sides. Workpiece handling can be by hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder and workpiece transfer to hanger positions is checked by light sensor allocated to the overall control system used to match gripper turret to hanger movement.
