The facility for the storing of bicycles has hangers movable along a rail (2), and a loading and unloading station (3) for the bicycles and which is equipped with a lifting device which moves each bicycle between a lower position near the ground and an upper position near to the rail. A control unit controls the movements of the hangers on the rail and the movements of the lifting device. Each bicycle has its own identification, and an operating unit accessible for the users of the store affects the control unit by the input of the identification so that a bicycle moves towards the loading and unloading station and is lowered by the lifting device.
