Production of 1,3-dihalo-1,1,3,3-tetra(organyl)disiloxanes (I) comprises reacting dihalodi(organyl)silanes (II) with hydroxylic compounds (III). Production of disiloxanes of formula (I) comprises reacting silanes of formula (II) with compounds of formula (III). R = optionally substituted 3-30C hydrocarbyl bonded to Si through a secondary or tertiary C atom; R1 = optionally substituted 1-30C hydrocarbyl; X = halogen; and R2 = H or optionally substituted 1-30C hydrocarbyl.
