The carton has connecting sections (12) inside each corner. These consist of first (12a) and second (12b) flaps connected by a crease (16). The first flaps are connected by a second crease to a first set of side walls (e.g. 8) and the second flaps by a third crease to a second set of walls (3, 4). Cross-over strips (19) are attached to the first set of walls by a crease (21). The connecting sections are folded along the first crease (16) so that the flaps (12a, 12b) lie flat on one another and the first flaps (12a) lie flat on the walls in the first set. The edges (17a) of the first flaps protrude beyond the edges (17b) of the second flaps. An independent claim is included for a blank from which the carton can be produced.
