The edge grinding device has a tool base (1), at least one tool head (2, 3) on it and a grinding tool (8) on the head to grind the mouth edge (5) of the vessel (6) over part of its circumference. The vessel holder (14) grips and rotates the vessel. The tool head is pivoted to the tool base in such a manner that it describes an oscillating pendulum motion about the mouth edge of the vessel.
