The journals (10) for securing the winding shaft (2) between the side walls (4) for the shutter device are releasably attached to the side walls. The bottom edge flange region (7a) of the side wall includes a gap adjacent to the rear edge flange region (7b), through which the journal can be passed. The journal has a retaining head (12) that can be press-fitted with the side wall in a direction at right angles to the cover plate. The roller shutter device comprises side walls adjacent to a cover plate with an edge flange, located in the top of an opening in a building. The winding shaft secured between the side walls is used to mount a box containing the apron (3) for covering the opening. Guide rails (8) on either side of the opening include guide channels (9) for receiving the apron edges and insertion channels (11) for receiving the journals.
