The control system uses a sensor rail having a series of light-sensitive semiconductor elements (5) and a logic circuit, providing a control pulse of defined duration when the sensor rail is illuminated by a focused light beam and a second control pulse with a different duration upon subsequent illumination of the sensor rail within a given time interval. Also included are Independent claims for the following: (a) a sensor rail for a control system; (b) an application of a control system for controlling a slide projector.
