Cell stack (5) consists of cells (1, 2, 3) made up of an anode, cathode and an electrolyte layer between them. Several cells are joined via bipolar plates (4). An opening (9) in the bipolar plate is provided as the inlet or outlet of operating devices to or from a cell. A wall separates the inlet or outlet from the cell. A seal (8) is provided on the other side of the cell so that the seal lies opposite the wall. Preferred Features: A sealing ring is used as the seal and protrudes from the plate.
