Water dispersible isocyanates obtainable by reaction of (a) polyisocyanates (b) monofunctional polyethers (II), fluorinated alcohols, and d = optional other adjuvants or additives are new. Water dispersible isocyanates are obtainable by reaction of (a) polyisocyanates of structure (I): Q(NCO)n, where n is greater than 2, (b) monofunctional polyethers of formula: R1-(O-R2)m-O-H (II), (c) fluorinated alcohols of formula (CH3-mFm)-(CH2-yFy)z-(CH2)n-OH (III). R1 = 1-4C alkyl; R2 = alkyl of structure CHX-CHY; X = Me, and Et, or H, with the proviso that one of substituents X and Y = H; m = 3-25; 1,2, or 3; y, 1 or 2; z = 3-29, preferably 5-19; n = 0, or 1,2,3, or 4, preferably 1 or 2; d = optionally other adjuvants or additives. An Independent claim is included for mixtures for the preparation of ultraphobic coatings obtainable by combination of (I) water dispersible isocyanate, (II) finely divided particulate materials, and (III) paint adjuvants and water.
