The unit (10) has a swivel yoke (14) mounted in a casing (12). A pivot control device is connected to the yoke and has a casing (38) with at least one servo bore (34) for a servo piston. The yoke has a mechanical operating element connected at a position offset from the hinge axis. A hydraulic control valve is connected to the servo bore to guide hydraulic fluid to or from the servo bore and operate the servo piston and the mechanical operating element to pivot the yoke. The mechanic adjustment element has an operating element rod (28), the first end of which is connected to the yoke and has an outer surface with a spherical profile. The second end of the operating element rod is connected to the operating piston. The mechanical operating element also has a step bearing element (40), which is fixed the first end of the rod at the yoke. The step bearing element engages and pivots the first end of the rod, so that it pivots about the yoke pivot axis with forces in at least two planes, when hydraulic fluid is guided to and from the servo bore.
