The device has a yoke (14) co-operating successively with pins (9A, 9B, 9C) and permitting to move the pins from a retracted position towards an engagement position. The yoke is mounted rotatably on a swivel (15) which is mounted on a screw (16). A pinion (17), an endless screw (18) and an engine (19) rotate the screw and the yoke. A nut is blocked from rotation by the screw. An independent claim is also included for a gear box including a jaw clutching mechanism.
