The running water power installation derives energy from a running water course and involves the water course accumulated by a weir on an upper water plane (9) in an upper water side channel (1) and by an accumulation retainer (23) on a lower water plane (17a) in a lower water channel (17). Longitudinally next to the upper water side channel is a system of several equally sized chambers (3) arranged one behind the other in a row. The chambers are divided by vertically movable floating bodies (10) into ballast water parts (A) and pressure water parts (B). The floating bodies, through computer-supported, time-controlled opening or closing of protections, valves or similar (18,20) between the upper water side channel and the chambers, likewise the opening or closing of protections, valves or similar (21) between the pressure water part and the lower water channel, are rhythmically alternatingly lowerable and raisable.
