Apparatus for hydraulic transport of bulk materials comprises a feed tank (1) containing a suspension of the material in a liquid. A vacuum line (3) is fitted at the base of this and an auxiliary pipe (12) connects this to a point in the tank wall. A pump (10) positioned between the vacuum line and a transport pipe (2). The pump can be connected to the auxiliary pipe on the suction side. An Independent claim is included for a method for hydraulic transport of bulk materials using the apparatus.
